Portland, Oregon

I spent 3 days in Portland. My first evening was spent watching Vauxhall Swifts roosting in a chimney. The photo that I took doesn’t do it justice. Every year for a few weeks in September Vauxhall Swifts can be seen swarming and then going to roost in a chimney. Loads of people go to the school to watch this event and to boo the bird of prey which sits on the edge of the chimney waiting to catch its next meal. The Swifts are on their journey down south to warmer climates.

Portland has an amazing art gallery. I spent 4 or 5 hours there and that still didn’t do it justice.

The picture below is actually made of ceramic.

A gallery in honour of the world’s best exercise 😂

My Friday evening was spent at a jazz house concert with three amazing musicians and a brilliant singer.

Portland is pretty Cycle friendly with loads of cycle paths being introduced. Nike is in Portland hence the Biketown bikes

Portland is also well known for its massive bookstore which is more like a supermarket. They have maps of the store so that you don’t get lost.
