Grizzly in the Vicinity

A short ride from Jasper to Pyramid Lake resulted in us being in very close proximity to a grizzly bear, so my Bear bell wasn’t effective, I’ve now invested in a whistle and will have to get some Bear spray.

A guided walk around Jasper revealed that the ‘Two Brothers’ totem pole in Jasper actually has some modern day technology behind it to hopefully help with its maintenance and therefore increase its longevity.

  1. Oo-er you be careful, you’re seeing more bears now. Didn’t know you’d got a bear bell, what on earth is that like? Is it on your bike? You should have a big smiley bell like Maryam’s, that would stop ’em in their tracks 🔔. Hope you don’t need to use bear spray either, that’d mean they’re up close and personal 🐻🚵😱. Great totem pole

    1. The totem pole is very cleverly done with the metal hinge behind it, means to say that it can be easily taken down and maintained. The bell 🔔 just jingles along it warns the Bears that you are in the vicinity. I have a whistle too. The bins here are Bear proof. We can’t leave food out and deodorant and perfumes can attract them too.
