Grizzly in the Vicinity

A short ride from Jasper to Pyramid Lake resulted in us being in very close proximity to a grizzly bear, so my Bear bell wasn’t effective, I’ve now invested in a whistle and will have to get some Bear spray. A guided walk around Jasper revealed that the ‘Two Brothers’ totem pole in Jasper actually…… Continue reading Grizzly in the Vicinity

Brown Bear and Cubs

I’ve seen a brown bear and her two Cubs today. No this isn’t a photo of her, I stood and watched and observed , I thought that I’d let everyone else take the photos, I don’t need a photo to remind me of what she looks like. Day was also spent planning the next 6…… Continue reading Brown Bear and Cubs

Training Day

Second day on train. Started at 9.30am and we go into Jasper at 8pm local time. So a 10.5 hour journey I was so glad to ride my bike down the road. Looking forward to being out and about over the next week whilst in Jasper.

Prince George

A very very very scenic train journey to Prince George. Journey was a long one. We started at 8.30am and got in at 10.30pm.

Sunshine ☀️ Yay!!

After quite a few rainy days the sun has finally made an appearance. Today is my last day in Prince Rupert before catching a train for two days to get to Jasper. Going to miss my bike 🚴 😞.

Rainy Prince Rupert

Whilst the UK is basking in soaring temperatures, Canada is very very wet. My waterproof poncho is my favourite outdoor accessory at the moment.

The Inside Passage

Yesterday we catch the boat from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert. A 12 hour boat journey on a cruise ship. Unfortunately it rained for most of the journey so no opportunity to really see much of the scenery. Two whales were spotted and waterfalls could be seen but no bears.

Mother Bear and Cubs

Cycled from Port McNeil to Port Hardy. Stopped at a scenic viewing point to be told that there was a Mother Bear and her three cubs on the road up ahead. Unfortunately we didn’t see them en route; I’m not gutted. Had my first puncture yesterday.

Courtenay to Campbell River

Travelling from Courtenay to Campbell we passed by a really beautiful bay. A policeman on a bicycle in Courtenay offered us a place to stay as the weather was so bad. People are very kind and have a lot of time to help here.
