I was hosted by Thuan who lives in downtown LA. He had an amazing smile. He got into cycling three years ago and has done some amazing things in that time including a double century in one day, cycle touring and bike packing. Thuan has even learnt how to make his own bike packing gear…… Continue reading LA to Long Beach

Agoura Hills to Downtown LA
En route to Malibu I popped into Paramount Ranch where they film the Westerns. This sign was at my campsite. Coyotes walked the campsite at night, so I spent the night convinced that I was surrounded by a pack of coyotes that could smell my bag of chocolates in the tent 😊. Views from my…… Continue reading Agoura Hills to Downtown LA
Agoura Hills
I’m now in LA. A great ride through the country past some of the houses of the rich and the famous. Sad to think that they were abandoned. My host fosters cats.
Newbury Park
I decided to cycle inland and have a look around, so headed to Newbury Park. There were some interesting road signs along the way. Quite a few with holes in them. The scenery changed. More agriculture and mountains with industry interspersed. Southern California has a water shortage, so water is brought in for the crops…… Continue reading Newbury Park
Santa Barbara to Ventura
I actually cycled. An amazing route, which was mainly cycle paths and quiet roads. Cycle path right next to the highway with barriers separating the cycles from the cars.
Santa Barbara
Caught a bus from Salinas to Santa Barbara to catch up with Traile who I met a good 8 weeks ago in Canada. Traile actually thought that I’d passed by without contacting her because I’d taken so long. Spent 5 days sightseeing and relaxing and seeing a live performance of the Rocky Horror Show. There’s…… Continue reading Santa Barbara
Santa Cruz
I spent a long weekend in Santa Cruz. Loads of stuff going on with the usual seaside attractions.
An Amazing Ride
Today has to be one of my best rides so far. It was an absolute scorcher. The scenery was amazing. My day started with having breakfast cooked for me by a Warmshowers host, she wasn’t able to provide me with a place to stay because of work commitments so in the morning she invited me…… Continue reading An Amazing Ride
Lola
For the past two weeks I’ve been in San Francisco staying with a friend from university, Amy. My time was spent with pugalicious Lola. The two weeks have been an amazing time catching up with friends especially as my friend Clare came over from the UK for a long weekend. It’s been great having somewhere…… Continue reading Lola
